The team has been working hard on DOCman 2.0 over the past months. We realized that DOCman is basically made up of 3 key features: files, documents and logs.

Together, these three make up the core functionality. Instead of holding of until all three features are ready, we have decided to release them as separate extensions. We are very happy to announce today two new extensions to the Joomlatools family: FILEman and LOGman.

FILEman

FILEman is our lightweight, simple, speedy and vamped up version of the Joomla media manager that features multiple file uploading and automatic thumbnail generation. All powered by AJAX, CSS3 and HTML5 making for a much more responsive user experience.

Summer is one of those times when work slows down and people take time off. Not at Joomlatools! We worked very hard last summer to make Joomlatools better, faster, and much more. Here is a little overview of what we worked on :

DOCman 1.6

We listened to your feedback and released DOCman 1.6 for Joomla 1.7 at the beginning of the summer.  DOCman 1.6 brings the same stability, performance and security you know from DOCman 1.5 to Joomla 1.7.

This release was followed by maintenance releases for DOCman 1.6.1 and 1.5.11 a few weeks ago. For more info about the exact changes, also see our changelogs.

Last week we gave you a view behind the Joomlatools curtain. Today we are pleased to tell you more about what our development team is doing, working hard on DOCman 2.0!

Our talented team have completely rewritten DOCman from top to bottom. DOCman 2.0 is powered by Nooku Framework and promises to be smaller, faster and smarter than ever before. Compatible with Joomla 1.5, Joomla 1.6 and Nooku Server out of the box.

Nooku Framework, the “new brain for Joomla”, is a rapid application development framework developed by our own Johan Janssens, Joomla 1.5′s lead developer. It allows us developers to develop in a blazing pace, while ensuring stability, maintenability and security.

An assortment of extensions is already using Nooku Framework as their engine, the most popular one being NinjaBoard. To this end, we will take every step to ensure smooth operation on sites where other Nooku Framework powered extensions are installed by using a compatible version of the Nooku Framework.

Yes folks, DOCman has been Nooku-fied and it’s coming soon!
